In the past few years, the Dragon Ball franchise’s future was a little uncertain, mainly due to the fact that we just don’t know where and how it will actually evolve. It seems that we now finally have the answer to that burning question, and it comes in the form of Dragon Ball Super.
Dragon Ball Super is a very tight introduction to a new, extraordinary development in the series because even if it relates to the other entries and it actually continues the story, it does manage to bring in quite some interesting things.
One of the ideas that I liked the most here is the uniqueness of the major baddie which is definitely one of the most interesting ones we have seen in quite a while. The new main enemy is unlike anything that was seen before, and this definitely manages to take the franchise to new heights in regards to character development.
Despite that, we still have the laid back atmosphere and the insane amount of fun that we can find in most of the Dragon Ball entries, be it movies or anime.
Since this is the first anime after close to 2 decades in this particular series, many persons were skeptical that this would actually be good, but to be honest Dragon Ball Super just manages to do an amazing job because it connects to the past yet it present the future of the franchise in a very appealing manner that we can easily relate to.
I do feel that one of the major strengths is the animation quality, which has been turned up a notch and which brings in an entire new level of fun and excitement which is really nice for sure. Of course, the most fun can be had simply by binge watching all the entire franchise and then taking on Dragon Ball Super, because everything combined seems like an amazing saga, unlike many other franchises we can see right now, especially in the anime world.
To be honest, many have considered Dragon Ball Super as being an unworthy element in the franchise, but that is not true. Instead, this new anime clearly knows exactly where to head the franchise and I have to say that the future is indeed bright here. Sure, some of the changes might not be liked by everyone, but most of what made the Dragon Ball franchise successful can still be found here, and I feel that this is the best thing about the new Dragon Ball Super series.
The question is, should you watch Dragon Ball Super? Of course, as this is one of the best anime you can check out right now. Not only it blends the past and future of the entire series, but it brings us something fun, familiar and just plain extraordinary. Dragon Ball Super is a lot of fun, and it shows us that despite having more than 20 years, the Dragon Ball series is alive and well!
